I swear I did more this month than one shitty landscape painting. I was going to finish one main painting and then have a shitty landscape painting as a bonus. Then I decided to go on vacation at the last minute. Main painting didn’t get finished. So, welp, here we are April 30th; shitty landscape painting is what I have for the month.
I do have the (intended) main painting and three other sketches in the works. But you know how it is with sketches sometimes…if they’re shitty, you can’t necessarily tell right off the bat. You have to leave them for a while and come back to them, and see if they need to be…unshittified. Fix anatomical problems, that sort of thing.
Anyway, in defense of shitty landscape paintings (any shitty paintings really), they are practice; they are one step closer to the promise of someday creating not-shitty paintings.
